Looking to become a certified belayer? After completing this class, we encourage you to enroll in our Learn to Belay class. Once you've learned the fundamentals, you're invited to return on another Tuesday evening to practice your new skills, trade belays with other climbers, and become part of our welcoming climbing community.

As an adult ÜG Member, you can take both our Intro to Climb and Learn to Belay classes at no additional cost. Plus, enjoy unlimited access to climbing, yoga, and fitness as part of your membership.

What to Expect
Whether you're climbing for the very first time or simply looking to improve your skills, this class is designed to help you feel comfortable and confident on the wall.
When you arrive, you'll check in at the front desk, get fitted with climbing equipment (harness and climbing shoes), and meet your instructor. We'll begin with a brief introduction to each other and the motivations to taking the class. You'll then get hands-on lesson covering the fundamentals of climbing on the auto belays and depending on the class size, on top rope.
During class, you'll:
- Learn the fundamentals of efficient climbing movement
- Improve balance, body positioning, and footwork
- Build confidence climbing a variety of routes
- Receive personalized coaching from an experienced instructor
Throughout the class, you'll have opportunities to practice your new skills under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Our class sizes are typically small to ensure everyone receives personalized coaching and has time to ask questions.
After completing the class, you're welcome to stay and continue climbing. If you'd like to continue building your skills, we recommend joining our Learn to Belay class or becoming a member to enjoy unlimited climbing, yoga, and fitness.
No experience is necessary—just bring comfortable athletic clothing and a willingness to have fun!
